In Madagascar, Joseph-Antoine Sabiani, of the SOPTOM team, has just completed the field phase in the framework of the census led on the radiated tortoise populations.
In, Madagascar, it has been several months that Jospeh-Antoine Sabiani, part of the SOPTOM team, is travelling throughout the distribution area of the radiated tortoise (Astrochelys radiata), in order to know better the wild populations of the species, to have an updated statement of the conservation status of the species, and to prepare future reintroductions.
Accompanied by Anthonio, they have walked more than 220 km to observe and identify 361 tortoises over 40 quadrats located on 21 sites.
Now, the analysis of the research data and for the drafting of the report begin.
