Facing COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the protected area of Vohimana does not receive any visitor. Guides and daily staff at the Naturalist Relais have no income.

Even if the NGO l’Homme et l’Environnement provides free medication and soap to the poorest, the situation is worrisome. Local populations have very few reserves. Many habitants sell their products on the market on Tuesdays to buy some food for the rest of the week, and markets are closed. Let’s hope that the situation is going to improve soon.

Actions have been carried out modestly by the NGO L’Homme et L’Environnement for two weeks as part of the fight against COVID-19: soaps bought in Moramanga were distributed for the households of Vohimana (a hundred of large bars of soap) and a can of hydro-alcoholic solution was sent for the use of the health center. Manufacturing of D-systems materials to facilitate hand washing in strategic points (villages, schools and health center) have been ordered.
